The unit of currency is the West African CFA franc, (FCFA – XOF) – pronounced “say-fah”. It is fully convertible into euros.
Foreign currency exchange over 1 million CFA (about US$2,000 at an exchange rate of 500 CFA=US$1) requires authorization from the Ministry of the Economy and Finance.

TAXIS IN NIAMEY
Taxis in Niamey are quite common and very cheap – they cost approximately 200 francs a time if the distance isn’t too long or some 400 francs for going almost across the city. At Niamey airport the lowest fare into Niamey Central is approximately 3,000 francs and is often higher unless you know the going rate on arrival and are prepared to negotiate. The drawback with many taxis is that they do not have air conditioning which is obviously a must. CFGNiger can arrange an airport pickup which is by far the best route to follow. Please apply for taxi rates.
Whilst in Niger, CFGNiger can generally look after all your needs from:

- Providing a car and driver for the length of your stay in Niamey.
- As you are our client we may also be able to assist you in a commercial capacity, just ask us for what you need and we will endeavour to ensure it is provided
